
When I hear "sustainable fashion" my mind quickly pictures burlap and hemp. Of course, this is not the case for most sustainable fashion, especially in regards to Samantha Pleet. Based out of Brooklyn, Pleet describes her collections as fantastical with a sense of modernity. She uses natural and sustainable materials whenever possible, but my favorite aspect of the collection is that everything is produced in Manhattan. I feel it is so important to keep business in the US, specifically the garment district. So many designers talk about saving the garment district, but they still produce everything over seas. I'd sooner spend a buck on one of these gorgeous dresses than a big name label. It also doesn't hurt that her clothes are wildly adorable.
