MICHI

Gotta love a good lingerie spread. Michi is actually lingerie-inspired athletic wear. Their look book proves this line looks fierce in and out of the gym. I love this brand because while they are wildly edgy, feminine and sophisticated, they focus on the most important part of active wear: the fit. Using fabrics (like four-way Swiss nylon lycra) that are light weight and easy to wear. The collection is easy to layer, mix and match. Perfect for those of us who need to feel put together, but also like to be comfortable :)

TBA - To Be Adored

Bin Bin McNiven wasn't messing around when she named her line t.b.a., short for To Be Adored. There's hardly a garment I don't adore in the Spring '12 collection. The look book is also beautifully shot, giving a vintage vibe to a mixture of timeless and modern silhouettes. Here are a couple of my favorites from the look book...

SAMANTHA PLEET

When I hear "sustainable fashion" my mind quickly pictures burlap and hemp. Of course, this is not the case for most sustainable fashion, especially in regards to Samantha Pleet. Based out of Brooklyn, Pleet describes her collections as fantastical with a sense of modernity. She uses natural and sustainable materials whenever possible, but my favorite aspect of the collection is that everything is produced in Manhattan. I feel it is so important to keep business in the US, specifically the garment district. So many designers talk about saving the garment district, but they still produce everything over seas. I'd sooner spend a buck on one of these gorgeous dresses than a big name label. It also doesn't hurt that her clothes are wildly adorable. These are some of my favorites from the SS'12 collection...

How amazing is this idea? Coffee soap! Another way to wake yourself up in the morning..

The packaging is cute, too. I think I know what all of my friends are getting for the holidays...

COLD PICNIC

I discovered Cold Picnic at the Brooklyn Flea market one afternoon in June. Peter and Phoebe don't only put attention and detail into every piece, they put a story behind it. They use found objects as well as vintage pieces. I love the element of craft they bring into their work, yet each piece is sophisticated.
